Federal Point Fire and Rescue became incorporated on December 16, 1974. The department was formed to fill the Fire Protection needs of the south end of New Hanover County. In the beginning Federal Point was a 100% volunteer department. In late 2003 Federal Point has became a combination department. In addition to the volunteer membership New Hanover County Fire service has provided us with 24 hour staffing at Federal Point Fire & Rescue. Our staffing consists of a Station Captain who works 8am-5pm Monday through Friday, One 24 hr. Firefighter who work 7am-7am, and one part time firefighter who works 8am-5pm. We also have one part time firefighter who mans EMS 500 7am-11pm. In addition to Fire service personnel Station 91 also is home for EMS 500. The Volunteer Membership meets each Monday night at 7:00pm for training, and holds its business meeting on the 3rd Monday of each month. Volunteer Firefighters have been a part of American history since the beginning of our country. The work is hard but the rewards are great... Federal Point's Marine Division currently works with many Local, County , State and Federal Agencies . In addition Federal Point Marine Division Members have under gone extensive training in the areas of Water Rescue , Shipboard Fire Fighting and Safe boating just to name a few. Federal Point Fire and Rescue also has its own Dive Rescue Team to assist if needed in any emergency.
